During the COVID-19 pandemic time, whole world went to lockdown mode, bringing all travel services to a halt. Hostels were also asked to close operations, leaving many students and working women stranded, with nowhere to go. I am really grateful to the SRVB management who allowed us to stay at the hostel during this challenging time. In the initial days of lockdown when all the ration shops and vegetable markets were shut, cafeteria staff managed to provide food on time. During this time, the hostel staff kept the entire premises sanitized and cleaned to ensure our health and safety. I felt much more at home with loving people around. All the staff ensured to keep a check on each and every one of us, about our mental and physical well-being. I thank SRVB management for being my support system and I feel very safe and comfortable here.

t’s my privilege to share my wonderful experience at SRV Bhavan. I joined the hostel in June 2014 while pursuing my Master’s in Commerce at St. Aloysius College. The hostel's peaceful environment, greenery, and close proximity to everything – including the bus stand and shops – made life easy and comfortable, even though we were in the heart of the city.
After completing my studies, I began working at a bank and continued staying at the hostel. Celebrations like Children’s Day, Sports Day, and Hostel Day were always filled with joy and wholehearted support from wardens, committee members, and fellow hostellers. The food – both vegetarian and non-vegetarian – was diverse and served with love, even when we were difficult at times.
The most unforgettable phase was during the Covid-19 crisis. While other PGs and hostels shut down, SRV Bhavan remained open, caring for just a few of us like family. I have immense respect and gratitude for the way they stood by us during such uncertain times.
A heartfelt thank you to the Committee Members, Wardens, Cafeteria Staff, and Watchman for their kindness, support, and love throughout my time at SRV Bhavan.

When Covid-19 struck, the sudden lockdown changed all our lives overnight. On March 22nd, panic set in at SRVB as we rushed to contact our families. Around 15–20 boarders remained behind, with no way to get home.
Despite the uncertainty, the hostel staff – including the cook, wardens, a cleaner, and an employee – ensured we had food and daily essentials. Their support was unwavering throughout both lockdown phases.
The atmosphere at SRVB was eerily calm. News channels constantly triggered anxiety, so we turned to meditation, yoga, music, walking, prayer, kashaya, vitamins, drawing, and painting to stay mentally strong. National initiatives like clapping and lamp-lighting helped us connect and support one another, even with social distancing in place.
Though we were unsure of what lay ahead, SRVB became a safe space during those anxious days – a time we now look back on with gratitude and valuable life lessons.
It’s last day in the Hostel, packed my Bags…
